In 2018, I found myself in a situation that a lot of professionals can relate to—I got laid off. For years, I had been working as the in-house photographer at a small software startup, handling everything from lifestyle, food, and product photography. Then, one day, I was suddenly out of a job. At first, it was disorienting. But looking back, it was exactly the push I needed to start my own photography business.
At the time, I didn’t have a clear idea of what kind of photography I wanted to specialize in, so I tried just about everything. I did free headshots around Portland, snapped food photos for DoorDash, and even took on the occasional senior portrait session. It was a hustle, but through all of those different jobs, I started to see a pattern. I was most drawn to working with brands, businesses, and professionals. I realized that helping people and companies tell their stories visually was where I was headed.
Today, my passion is helping small businesses, personal brands, and professionals with their visual presence. Whether you’re an entrepreneur launching a new venture, a business owner updating your website, or a team that needs cohesive headshots, I provide customized photography that makes you stand out.
Looking ahead, I’m excited to keep working with local businesses and professionals in Portland, but I’m also expanding my reach. Last year, I had the opportunity to help on a multi-day branding session for a restaurant chain in Southern California, which was a challenging and rewarding experience. Moving forward, I hope to take on more projects like that while staying connected to the Portland small business community that continues to help me grow.
